Therapeutic Mentoring offers structured one-to-one, strength-based support sessions between a Therapeutic Mentor and a child, to support a specific goal, such as developing social skills, interpersonal skills, problem-solving strategies, daily living skills or low-level mental health needs.
Therapeutic Mentoring is designed to give children the opportunity to talk about their mental health and well-being and develop a positive and trusting relationship with a mentor.
At Sherford Vale, we currently have five members of staff that have undertaken Therapeutic Mentoring training and deliver weekly sessions to children identified by teaching and support staff as requiring additional support for their social, emotional and mental health needs.
