How much power did the senate have in the Roman Republic?
We will be learning about "The Roman Republic". We will learn about the myth of Romulus and Remus, the River Tiber civilisation, the early kings of Rome and the development of the Roman Republic. We will explore the Punic wars, Hannibal, the Roman army, Roman religion, and finally, Roman myths & legends. We will see the influence of the Romans through the development of roads, Roman politics and government during the Republic.
GEOGRAPHY
How are different parts of the Rhine and the Mediterranean used by people?
We will learn about the Rhine and the Mediterranean. We will explore Cologne and cities on the Rhine. We will look at Rotterdam and the mouth of the Rhine and how the course of the river has been changed by human activity, including canals. We will look at the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal.

Why is the idea of ‘Messiah’ so important to Christians?
We will explore the Roman province of Judea in the first century BC. In our learning, we will read many New Testament stories: Jesus’s family origins, focus on New Testament stories that link with the Old Testament and Judaism and concept of Messiah. We will ask "Why are these stories important to Christians? How have Christians shown their importance in their drama, art and music?"
There is a strong emphasis on diverse cultural depictions of Jesus in art.
